What do we do?

People in France often ask why we're here, and we typically respond with:  We work with a protestant evangelical church.  But how do we respond when people say, "So, you work with a church.  What's that mean?  What's a typical week look like?  What do you do?"

That's a little trickier.  What do we do?

Well, to give you an idea, this week we:

• hosted an English conversation group as a way of meeting people, creating community, and blessing the city.

• met with the elders of another church (about 40 min. from Aix) to discuss how to better partner with them and support each other in local ministries.

• discussed next steps for our church - relating to a building, slogan, and one-on-one discipleship relationships.

• attended La Fête des Associations (a club festival of sorts) to check out potential clubs to partner with as a church and association, as well as for our own personal interests. 

had Skype calls with people from all over France and Europe to challenge and encourage one another in our personal walks with the Lord as well as to share ideas for local ministry.

prepared for and organized the upcoming worship service.

completed forms to reimburse teammates for purchases they made for the church.

prepared for a new one-on-one discipleship relationship that's to start next week.

volunteered for the Aix-les-Bains Triathlon as a way to help some friends, represent our church, and bless the city and it's 1500 participants.  

contacted supporting churches in the US to share about what God's been doing in France and show our appreciation for their partnership.

planned for a friend to visit this fall.

shared coffee while doing language exchanges.

made 20 enchiladas and 96 cookies as a way of creating community with our small group and providing for a family with a new born.

And next week?  It's too early to say.
