Life as of Late

Since May the blog has been filled with the refugee situation in Lesvos.  Our trip was just a few short days, but it impacted us greatly; and we're convinced that part of our job is to share the stories with you.  We hope the posts have been insightful!

Those of you who receive our email updates* know that we will be returning to Lesvos to serve for 2 months beginning in October.  We realized that we had a unique window of opportunity between when we planned to transition away from Aix-les-Bains and when we actually had to begin our first required year-long HMA (Home Ministry Assignment).  We couldn't say no.

But perhaps you're wondering what else has been happening in our lives between our first visit to Lesvos and our upcoming move.

Well, life has continued in Aix-les-Bains as normal.

We've continued to have our weekly small group, weekly team meetings, bi-weekly church services, monthly English Conversation Groups, and meet regularly with people in the community.

We hosted a big birthday bash for Judah, and then my parents came to visit for 2 weeks.

Jordan preached his last sermon at Le Rivage on July 16.

We hosted a BBQ to end our nearly 3 years with our English Conversation Group.

We are trying to plan ahead for our upcoming year in the USA while still being as present as possible in Aix-les-Bains.

We are continuing to pray and talk with people about future ministry in France for our planned return in January 2019.

We are connecting with as many people who are not on vacation as possible.  (Most of the French go on vacation for 1-4 weeks in July and August; it's so common and assumed that people simply say "Have a nice vacation!" when saying goodbye at this time of the year.)

We are chasing Judah around the apartment as he is an expert at finding all things he shouldn't - things that we didn't even know existed until a few weeks ago!  (Who knew that there was a removable cover on the hinges of our outside door?!)

We are going to the lake as much as we can, soaking up our last summer in this beautiful city.  We also go to the lake as often as possible because we only have to tell Judah "no" when he tries to eat the rocks. ;)

Jordan is currently working with our teammate, Steve, on creating a giant puzzle (the size of our dining room table!) in preparation for our church retreat at the end of September, which will be our last event with our church, Le Rivage.

Next week we will go to GEM's Annual Conference, joining more than 350 other missionaries who serve across Europe.  After Conference Jordan's parents will join us for 2 weeks before La Rentrée when everything picks up again in September.  Jordan's dad is even going to preach at our church!

It's been a busy, if not normal, few months, and the coming months are likely to be much of the same - but with the added stress of a multi-country move.  Please pray for us through these major transitions; we are so thankful that we aren't on this crazy adventure alone!
