#GivingTuesday

So you ate more turkey than you care to think about on Thursday.  You shopped till you dropped on Black Friday, and likely spent Saturday at the Christmas tree farm (at least, that's what it seemed like everyone did based on my Facebook and Instagram feeds!).  Perhaps on Sunday you rested and contemplated the first Sunday of Advent, and maybe you finished your Christmas shopping from the comfort of your own home with Cyber Monday sales.  And now?

Today is Tuesday, what are you to do?

How about participating in Giving Tuesday?

What is it, you ask?  It is an international day of giving.  In 2012, as a response to the over-commercialized and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday was created as a way to help people focus on generosity and giving to others.  Since it's creation, millions and millions of dollars have been given on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to non-profits all around the world.

Have you participated in the past?

Would you consider participating now?

As church planters in France, Jordan and I receive our salary based on the generosity of people who donate regularly to our GEM account.  Our salary, health insurance, ministry funds, retirement - everything that an employer typically covers - comes directly through the donations of others.  We are so thankful!  Up to this point, in nearly 4 years of ministry overseas, we have not been under-funded to the extent that we cannot continue life and ministry here in Aix-les-Bains; however, if we continue to lack sufficient monthly funding (currently we are about $1,500/month shy of our monthly goal), we will not be able to continue long-term, which is what we believe God wants for us at this time.

Would you consider a one-time-end-of-the-year donation on this Giving Tuesday?

Or would you consider partnering with us on a monthly basis?

As you consider your shopping and gift lists, would you consider investing in our lives and ministry, to make an eternal impact in Aix-les-Bains, France?

Many of you reading this already partner with us financially - THANK YOU!  We have nearly 100 monthly ministry partners (individuals and churches alike) who give anywhere from $10-$800/month.  We pray for you often; we praise God for His provision through you.  This post is not to make people feel under-appreciated or hackled; it's simply to make our needs known on a day where many people are likely already looking to give generously.  It's an opportunity for you to join in the movement of #GivingTuesday.  Thanks for standing with us!
