The Never-Ending Search for a Building

In February we asked you to join us in praying specifically about a building we were looking to purchase for our church.  In March we shared that our lack of conviction seemed to be answer enough.

So where are we now?  We are still praying and searching ads and calling agencies and praying.

A few weeks ago we looked at another potential building.  It's more expensive than the last building we considered, but it's also a lot bigger with much more diversity in terms of usable space.   It's located just outside of the downtown area, directly off of a main street.  It's easily accessible and even includes 5 parking spaces (which is huge!).  It seemed perfect, but....

There's always a but.

In changing the building from a commercial space to a church, we'd be required to have an emergency exit.  We'd also be required to have a minimum of 10 parking spaces and make it handicap accessible.  With the current set-up of the building, the current parking situation, and the fact that there are co-owners of the building on either side (a martial arts studio and a printer), meeting the criteria seems nearly impossible.  We have said no to this seemingly perfect space, all due to technical issues.

July 17 will be our last church service before taking a bit of a summer break; this will be the last church service at the Bridge Club, which we've been renting since September, as they've decided to no longer rent it to outside parties.  When we begin services again on August 28, we're not sure where we'll be.  This sounds familiar.

Nothing is impossible for God, so pray that He'd speak clearly to us about where to go and what to do.  We long to see His Church in Aix-les-Bains grow, and we know that, though a building is certainly not required for this growth, a permanent space to call our own would certainly be an asset in connecting with the local French population - especially as we seek to better welcome and serve young families of the community.

Please, keep praying with us about a long-term home for Le Rivage.  He is able!
