What's in the Fridge?

So we've lived in France for more of our married life than not.  While language learning is life-long, we have definitely hit our stride in this country.

But sometimes we're reminded that we're foreigners in the strangest of situations.

Like our refrigerator.

Apparently, our fridge contains much more tupperware than your average French person's.  And not just tupperware with leftovers, but our tupperware is full of washed and ready-to-eat veggies, half cut onions and tomatoes and cucumbers.

Is this odd?

Our [French] friends were laughing, wondering why they never think to do that.  When they cook, they use an entire zucchini or an entire tomato, regardless of how much they actually plan to eat.  Then, they save the leftovers of the prepared dish, but they never have half-used, raw veggies left over.

What about your refrigerator?  Do you use entire vegetables, even if you will only eat half of the recipe?  Jordan and I simply cut the amount of tomato that we want to use for the dish and leave the rest for the next time we want some tomato.  If we're making stir fry and throw in some zucchini, we simply cut the amount that we want to use at that time and leave the rest for later.  I've found that if we don't have the carrots sliced or the salad washed, we simply won't eat it.

But maybe this isn't American either; maybe it's just Jordan and Kate.
