Camp des Cimes

For 10 days, Jordan had this view:

While I had this view:

Just kidding.  But seriously.

No, I wasn't sick.
I was just cleaning lots of toilets during the Young Adult English Camp at Camp des Cimes (Camp of the Peaks).

To be fair, Jordan did his share of cleaning toilets, washing dishes, and serving meals, too, but his primary role was leading worship for the 16 campers.  :)

Occasionally, we had these views, too:

For nearly 50 years, GEM has owned Camp des Cimes, about 2 hours from our house in Aix-les-Bains.  They are always looking for extra hands, so Jordan and I volunteered to serve wherever they needed people most.  We worked along side of 7 other volunteers to make sure that the campers were well fed and that the facilities were well cleaned.

The staff was thrilled to hear that Jordan could lead worship - in both English and French!

He occasionally translated, too, as the speaker was a fellow Pennsylvanian who doesn't speak French.
Jordan was grateful to be used.

During our free time, we were welcomed to join the campers in their various activities including games, sports, hiking, and art.

On our free day, the Tour de France made it's annual route through the town by camp.  While we would have loved to have watched them travel up the 21 switch-backs, we didn't have the time, so we simply caught them in town, just before they headed up the mountain.  We love watching the Tour de France in person - though I'm not sure our first year will ever be topped.
