God's Power

God answers prayers, big and small.

On Friday afternoon, just hours before the start of our “Soirée Américaine,” we realized that we needed electricity in order to play the keyboard for the evening concert.  Jordan and I took our weary bodies to the lake where we planned to host the evening in order to look for an outlet.

Roaming the lawn like a crazy person, I prayed.  “God, if there is electricity to be found, lead me to it.”  I searched high and low on lampposts and buildings with security signs saying “Smile, you’re on camera.”

And then I found a single outlet.

The small building was closed up with no one around, but I knew that we couldn’t just plug in without permission, so I wandered over to the next building, a restaurant where our teammate has started a relationship with the owner and where we planned to eat later that night.

“Excuse me,” I said.  “Do you know who owns the building next door?” I asked.

“Yes, but he isn’t there today,” the man behind the counter responded.  “What do you need?”

I smiled bashfully.  “Well, I work with Thierry, and tonight we’re having a ‘Soirée Américaine’ with a small concert.  Unfortunately, we can’t play the piano without electricity, so I was hoping we could use the outlet on that building.”

“I have electricity,” he said immediately.  “Just use mine; it will be easier.  No problem.”

And just like that, we had electricity.  He even provided the extension cord.

It was an immediate answer to prayer and a direct result of a relationship that our teammate has been investing in over the last several months.  Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Here's a little clip from the concert....
