What French Kids Eat

It seems to me that there's a bit of an obsession about what French kids eat in their school lunches.  It's true that the French are known for their cuisine (with good reason - come visit us, and we'll be sure to eat some good food!), but as I've browsed the various articles, I always wonder how accurate they are.

A few weeks ago, as Jordan and I were walking by a local school, we noticed that their lunch menus were posted for the following two weeks.  In case you, too, are curious about what French kids eat, I thought I'd share...


Monday:  
Coleslaw; veal; chard; plain yogurt; 
chocolate mousse

Tuesday:  
Salad; Alsacienne sausage or poultry sausage; cheese plate; applesauce

Wednesday:  
Cauliflower and mayo; honey chicken; sautéed carrots and onions; homemade apple cake 

Thursday:  
Cooked organic beet salad; organic beef  bourguignon; couscous; organic swiss cheese; organic fruit 

Friday:  
Paté; filet of fish; fried green beans and mushrooms; cow cheese; fruit



Monday:  
Organic cheese pizza; organic veggie steak; organic peas; organic cheese, organic fruit

Tuesday:  
Shredded carrots (a common salad); filet of fish with lemon sauce; ground spinach with croutons; garlic and herb cheese; vanilla flan topped with caramel

Wednesday:  
Coleslaw; rotisserie turkey with sauce; pasta with shredded cheese; cheese, applesauce

Thursday:  
Cabbage; sausage; mashed split peas; plain yogurt; homemade Easter cake

Friday:  
Green bean salad and shallots; pasta with tuna and tomato sauce; white cheese, fruit
