Loches
Loches is a small medieval city in central France and home to our friends and colleagues. For the last several years, I have read Jenn's blog; in August, we met in person for the first time; last weekend Jordan and I had the privilege of spending 5 days with the Williamson family.
As we transition from full-time language school, our GEM leaders have encouraged us to visit other ministries to see what God is doing across France, to gain some insight, and hopefully return with ideas to implement in our own context of Aix-les-Bains.
Though Loches and Aix are very different cities, the overall vision of the churches is quite similar.
It was insightful to participate in their church's morning and evening prayer meetings as well as their English and French church services. It was also great to chat about spiritual gifts, challenges of church-planting, cultural adaptation, ministry methods and curriculums, rhythms and schedules, and life in general while we relaxed, toured the city, and indulged in delicious meals.
It was fun to spend time with the Williamson family, but, while we were able to relax (especially since I was sick!), the goal was certainly not to have a vacation!
{I know, I know; these pictures make it look otherwise, but it's a bit strange to take photos during prayer meetings and church services, so you're left to view the beautiful scenery.}
We did manage to play Ticket to Ride, Family Business, and half of a game of Settlers though over the weekend though. :)
