Do you know any other Christians?

In a recent article by Christianity Today, it was stated that 1 in 5 non-Christians in North America do not even know a Christian.  That's 20% of North Americans who do not have a relationship with Christ do not even have a relationship with one of His disciples.

And yet, 80% of the United States claims to be a Christian.

The article says that world-wide, the statistic is even greater:  8 in 10 non-Christians around the world do not know a Christian personally.

This is mind-boggling to me.

And I can't help but wonder, if 1 out of 5 non-Christian North Americans don't know a Christian, are there Christians in North America do not know any non-Christians?

Though I don't know the statistics in France, or even Europe as a continent, I'm sure that many of the people we interact with on a regular basis do not know other Christ-followers.  It's a humbling thought.  One time Jordan told a man, "If you want to know who God is, ask us; we know Him.  If you want to know what life with Him is like, look at our lives."

Last weekend at the Church Weekend the theme was "Disciples in a World of Screens."  On Sunday morning, our teammate Raphael preached from Colossians 4:3-4 and said, "We are giant screens of the Gospel to the world."  He also encouraged us to persevere in prayer.  He asked, "Do we persevere in prayer for our cities, colleagues, and neighbors like we do for our children?  ...If we do not persevere in prayer and hear God's message, we will not have a message to share with others."  Wow.

We pray that we would live our lives in such a way that those who do know know Christ personally can see Him and know Him through us.

What about you?  As a Christian (yes, I'm assuming that the majority of our blog readers are North American Christians), do you know any non-Christians?  Have you ever thought about the fact that, perhaps, you are the only Christian that your non-Christian friend(s)/acquaintance(s) know(s)?  And if you are indeed the only Christian in someone's life, does that change the way you think about sharing the Gospel?
