TdF Prayer Team: Day 2
Yesterday was another hot July day here in Aix-les-Bains, but we had a great time with our team!
We dined at chez Egli for breakfast then had a time of prayer and worship. It brought me such joy to have the Lord's praises raised in our living room! I pictured the praises overflowing from us out of our opened windows and into the streets of Aix-les-Bains. It was beautiful.
After our time of worship together we went to the local Catholic Church. This church is large and beautiful, and it actually holds services fairly regularly, but inside there is a poster that says "12 Communities, 1 Parish". It gives us a glimpse of the life of the Catholic Church in this region. One of our teammates plans to meet with the priest of this church in September. May God's Name be lifted high in that place; may it once again be a place of worship and Life.
Marion and Raph (and Abi) provided a delicious lunch for us. They and Matthieu shared their testimonies with our team over the meal - some of which we did not know previously. We praise God for bringing all 3 of them out of darkness and into His marvelous light!
Abi brings so much joy! Her mother assures us that, at the age of 23 months, she's not actually speaking French, so we don't have to feel bad if we don't understand her. :)
After lunch the group prayed around Centre Ville (around Raph and Marion's home and around our apartment, through the local park, etc.).
Christophe and Chantelle joined us for dinner. They shared their own stories and their heart for the Jewish people. Aix-les-Bains has a large Jewish population because of the famous Jewish school located here. We pray that the people here, especially the Jews, may know that Christ is the Messiah!
Have you ever had a French person thank you, as an American, for sending missionaries to their country? Have you ever had them thank you for praying for their country and their people? Christophe and Chantelle have been so touched by the missionaries from the United States - including the team visiting us this week. They are sorry that they (and the French churches) do not thank the senders more often. It was a blessing for us to be with them and encouraging to know that they are blessed by our being here!
In addition to thanking us for being here in France, they gave each of us solar-powered flashlights in the shape of shoes. Christophe shared a paraphrase of Joshua 1:3 ("Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you...") and reminded us that we must be connected to the Son in order to have Power; we cannot do things on our own strength - at least not for long.
Today (Day 3) we spent some time praying for the Jewish community in response to what we heard from Christophe and Chantelle last night. But you'll have to wait for Day 3's update because we're tired!
