TdF Prayer Team: Day 1
The Tour de France is an iconic event in our new country.
If you're interested in learning a little bit more about it, check out this cool video.
This summer, during the 100th anniversary of this cultural event, dozens of short-term mission teams are joining GEMers across France to share the Gospel and ask God to spark a movement in this country. This week we are honored to have a group of 3 people from Spokane, Washington joining us in Aix-les-Bains to pray for our city and country. The plan is to hear from one of our teammates or another local church leader about the vision that God has laid on their hearts; then we will prayer walk through a particular part of the city and trust God to move and prepare the soil for fruitful ministry in the future. We will try to keep this blog updated throughout the week, but we'd love for you to join us in praying this week!
Our team - Doc, Carol, and Donna - arrived on the train this afternoon.
Thierry met us in the center of town, in front of the Mayor's Office, to share a bit of the history of Aix-les-Bains and his vision, not just for this city, but for the region. As he shared, our teammates (and us) were encouraged to know that God is already answering some of the prayers they've been praying.
Doc and Carol are preparing to move to France with GEM as intercessors and church planters. They already pray faithfully for us; now they will have a better understanding of how to pray more specifically.
As we sat on the steps, 3 children joined us. "I speak no English," the kid said. We responded with blank stares. Perhaps he was curious about the English speakers and thought it was a tour; perhaps he was simply interested in playing with Thierry's son's iPod.
We ended our evening at Steve's house.
Don't tell his wife (who is currently in the US) that he made a delicious lasagna!
Tomorrow we plan to pray for Centre Ville. May God provide housing for Fred and Johanna; may He lead us to People of Peace; may we have a building in a strategic location to be used for equipping future church planters; may His Name be lifted high in Aix-les-Bains and across France!
Thanks for the update guys! Keep up the good work!
