International Dinner
In language school, on an almost daily basis, we talk about food and cooking with our classmates. Now that we are finally feeling a bit more settled, we invited our classmates to dinner at our apartment. It was great!
I (Kate) made Chicken Parmesan with pasta and salad - and chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
(OK, just as a side note, if you're looking for a good chocolate chip cookie recipe, try the link. Seriously, they were some of the best cookies we've ever made/had.... in my humble opinion.)
Our new friends brought the wine, and we enjoyed getting to know each other in a mix of French and English - with a bit of Thai, Arabic, and Russian thrown into the mix on occasion.
It was certainly an interesting night with the various cultures and languages, but everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves. One girl said she was so happy to have such a meal at our home; it's like going home to my mother's cooking, she told us.
We'd love to host our classmates again!
While we've been MIA from the blog world recently, we have not been MIA from real life happenings. We're continuing to settle into our apartment and trying to establish some sort of a routine.
As promised, we will post photos of our apartment....eventually. :)

Looks like fun! By the way, made those chocolate chip cookies today and they were GREAT! Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteJenn, glad you liked the cookies. I tried the EXACT same recipe a few days later, and they weren't nearly as good. They tasted just as good, but they didn't look nearly as pretty (they were too flat). We think the secret is in the **softened butter. Don't melt it!
