Wait and See
Do you ever wait and see before committing?
But if everyone waits then there will be nothing to see.
Joshua 3 describes the Israelites crossing the Jordan River. God didn't part the waters for them to walk on dry land until "...the feet of the priests bearing the ark were dipped in the brink of the water (now the Jordan overflows all its banks throughout the time of harvest)..."
What if the priests said they'd just wait and see what God would do before stepping into the water?
What if everyone waits and sees if we are going to raise enough money to move to France this summer before financially committing to partner with us?
What if everyone waits and sees if God will bring our friends to Him?
"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21
In college, I was the social chair for our fellowship. I can't tell you how many e-mails and phone calls I received after a sign-up deadline passed; people wanted to wait and see if their friends were going before committing to attend an event.
In Colorado, Jordan and I would often wait and see if something better came up on a Friday night before committing to attend the 20something group.
This past summer, as we prayed about what to do next, we wanted to wait and see if God would plop something on our laps before committing to move to Europe.
