On the Move
We have hardly had a moment to spare since our arrival - except for the moments on the trains. I'm certainly not complaining though; it's been a great trip thus far!
From Aix-les-Bains we went to Grenoble and spent the night with a GEM family. Our purpose in Grenoble was to just see it, really. There are a lot of great things happening (a strong university ministry, a few solid evangelical churches, immigrant outreaches....), but this is not where the GEM leadership has suggested we focus. Upon arrival we were greeted enthusiastically by the 5 Nagelkirk children and spent the afternoon with Roy at a local kebab shop and walking around some of the immigrant neighborhoods where he spends much of his time with Arabs and North Africans. He shared a lot of insight with us about France, ministry, and working with immigrants!
From Grenoble we went to Chantilly, just north of Paris, so that we could participate in the GEM France monthly day of prayer. There were about 14 adults and at least as many kids present, and we spent the first few hours in prayer for the various individuals and ministries across France - including appointees and those not physically there. It was encouraging to hear the ways that God is working and using people!
After prayer we feasted and had a Christmas party with games and presents. Here's a photo from the party - let's just say Jordan makes me proud with his ability to eat a cookie from his forehead without using his hands!
From the party we went to Lille, in northern France. The stories from the last 24 hours will have to wait though - j'ai faim! :)

Here is a photo that I took from the top of the fort, above the city. We arrived just before the clouds came in, so we could see the entire city and even saw the one of the most beautiful rainbows! This city is kind of like a larger version of Ouray, CO in that it's set in a bowl of mountains. :)
