Lille: ACF to [Le] FEU?

Yesterday (Thursday) we spent in Lille, a city in northern France with a population of about 1.2 million people, including 100,000 university students from around the globe. Our purpose? To visit Pascal at Le FEU.

In Europe, universities don't have student union buildings (like The Hub at Penn State); there is no place to spend time with friends outside of one of your homes or the classroom. So, enter the Foyer Evangelical University - i.e. Le FEU. "Feu" means "foyer", a place to hang out, and this group, or organization, seeks to offer le feu to students.

Le FEU is intentional about evangelism and discipleship while encouraging the students to be involved in a local church. The goal is not to grow Le FEU, the goal is to grow churches; it's more than making church members though, it's about making disciples.

If Jordan and I were to work with Le FEU, we would take French classes at a university, share meals with students, hit the streets to take surveys and start spiritual conversations, lead Bible Discovery groups, Bible studies, and discipleship groups. We would build relationships with students from around the world, offer workshops (such as cooking or bicycle maintenance) to make contacts, and sow the seeds of the gospel broadly.

It could be a great fit for our gifts, passions, and past experience, but God hasn't spoken that clearly to us [yet].

Today we are meeting with the team in Chantilly, outside of Paris, to explore the possible fit for us here. Please keep praying for clarity with us!
