March 24, 1933 - October 20, 2011
Last Monday (10/17), my dad called to say my grandma may not wake up from her nap. Grandma Audrey did wake up, but each time that she woke up she would state disappointingly, "I'm still here." When the hospice nurse asked if she was ready to leave, my grandma got a big smile on her face and said, "Yes."
She was ready to meet Jesus face to face.
On Thursday October 20 Jesus took my grandma to Heaven; there is no more pain or sorrow from her cancer. She is rejoicing in the presence of our glorious Savior!
Here is Grandma Audrey's obituary.
On Friday afternoon Jordan and I flew home to be with the rest of my family. We cried over my grandma's departure and rejoiced over the life she now has with Jesus. Over and over again people spoke of her faith and her compassion for others. She was a generous and selfless woman; you'll never meet a more positive person.
What a blessing to have had her as my grandmother!

Grandma Audrey and Grandpa Ralph
Married on February 29, 1952
A great example of what marriage is!
August 21, 2011
[I'm not sure what Grandpa's doing with his mouth...]
The entire Leslie family was at our wedding except for 1 grandson and 2 great-grandsons.
Some of my favorite memories with Grandma (and Grandpa!) are their trips.
Here's a picture from Penn State.
I think it was my sophomore year and they brought my sisters up just for the day.
Then last September they loaded their car [so full that they almost couldn't fit themselves!] with our wedding gifts and drove across the country to visit Jordan and me in Colorado.
They went to a wedding in TN, spent a few days in CO, then continued to CA and OR!
People thought they were crazy, but it was such a wonderful trip!
Here's a picture from CO - at Focus on the Family's Whit's End.
They thought it was hilarious!
Then we drove through Rocky Mountain National Park - so beautiful!
What great memories!
In August Jordan and I spent a few weeks in PA, and I'm so grateful that we did!
Grandma was living at my parents' house (where she'd been since April),
and this picture was taken right before we left to return to CO.
I didn't know that it would be the last time I saw Grandma Audrey on earth.
Jordan and I returned to snowy Colorado on Wednesday night; Thursday was my last day at the office, and tonight Candidate Orientation starts at GEM as part of our preparation for France. Please pray for us! It's been an emotional 10 days, and we're both fighting off being sick. We trust that the Lord is sovereign, and He will meet our needs!
Check back later for updates from Orientation.
